Peaceful Noel

Another week has flown by, and I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week! I'm doing the cooking, so I'll have to start my planning list soon! And of course, I can't wait to decorate for Christmas...

It's Thursday and that means it's Treehouse Thursday Challenge day - and this week's challenge was to use glitter, and if you want, use it in some unique way. I immediately thought of the newly release set "Peaceful Noel." I wanted a soft effect to the card, in non-traditional Christmas colors. I added gold glitter to the antlers, and some glitter for snow. Here it is:

Thanks to all who played along with last week's challenge. Head on over to the Treehouse Blog to see who was the lucky winner! Ashley is drawing a winner each week for some Treehouse Bucks so be sure to play along. There are a few rules to help you!
1. You must use the challenge as described
2. You must provide a link to your creation on the challenge post inLinks
3. You creation must be a new one, remember the idea is to get your creative ideas flowing and get you creating.
4. You do not have to use TREEHOUSE STAMPS images to be eligible for the drawing but if you have them we would sure love to see you use them.
5. Your entry must be linked in the inLinks no later than next Wednesday to be eligible for the drawing.

I can't wait to see what you come up with. Be sure to check out the other design team's blogs and see what they've created. They all give such great inspiration!

Treehouse Release and Thursday Challenge

It's release day for Treehouse Stamps and what fun Christmas sets to play with. Head on over to the Treehouse Store and see all the new sets released!

This week's Thursday Treehouse Challenge THT075 is a SKETCH - always a favorite for me as it gives you that extra push for inspiration taking the guesswork out of the layout aspect of designing a card. Here's the sketch this week...

And I used the new set "Christmas Ornaments" for my card. It's one of those cards that was totally different in my head...I just kept adding to it but in the end, I like it!

Thanks to all who played along with last week's challenge. Head on over to the Treehouse Blog to see who was the lucky winner! Ashley is drawing a winner each week for some Treehouse Bucks so be sure to play along. There are a few rules to help you!

'Tis the Season

I was in a store BEFORE Halloween and yes, there was Christmas music playing. I know that shouldn't surprise me but it seems a bit early. So now we're into November and Christmas, is in fact, just around the corner. It's one of my favorite "seasons" - I do agree that is has become very commercialized, but in the end, I just love the spirit of the season! Religiously, it is an awesome time but I also like the gift giving, the anticipation for the kids, and of course, getting to go home to my parents for that week!

This weeks's Treehouse Thursday Challenge gave me the perfect inspiration to get into the season, even if still a little early! The challenge this week, THT074, is a color challenge - ivory, olive, and another color of your choice. I'm using a stamp that will be released this month. I'll admit I'm not a photoshop digital stamper - I like to print them out and color with my Copics. It is my therapy to be able to color and bring to life the stamps! Here's my card, and I apologize as we've had rain for the past two days here in Dallas and so the lighting doesn't do the card justice! I also used Jen Del Muro's SFYTT from this week - this is one of my favorite sketches and you'll most definitely be seeing this layout again.

Thanks to all who played along with last week's challenge. Head on over to the Treehouse Blog to see who was the lucky winner! Ashley is drawing a winner each week for some Treehouse Bucks so be sure to play along. There are a few rules to help you!

Bump In The Night

I can't believe another week has come and gone! It's been super busy here with all the kiddos' schedules and I feel like I barely have time to breathe! This weekend is already Halloween, and Christmas is just around the corner! The kids are so excited to go trick-or-treating...and they will be adorable as we go about the neighborhood! I'll post their photos after this post so you'll see what I mean! Love them!!!!

Anyways, it's Thursday and that means another Treehouse Thursday Challenge - THT073. The theme this week is "Things that go bump in the night." I decided to make one last Halloween card of the year, for a birthday party we have on Halloween day! So here's my card...

Thanks to all who played along with last week's challenge. Head on over to the Treehouse Blog to see who was the lucky winner! Ashley is drawing a winner each week for some Treehouse Bucks so be sure to play along. There are a few rules to help you!
1. You must use the challenge as described

And now...for the annual Halloween pictures of my kiddos! For those that don't know - I do a theme each year and this one is my FAVORITE of all time!

Thankful for YOU

It's another Treehouse Thursday challenge - THT072 - and this week's challenge was "What are you thankful for?" It's always such a good question to ask yourself - and my answer is YOU! I'm thankful for those friends that are there even when I don't know I need them, for the little things that everyone does, for my husband and kids who always know how to make me smile and appreciate the finer, sometimes more mundane things in life. So I dedicate this card/challenge to YOU!

Thanks to all who played along with last week's challenge. Head on over to the Treehouse Blog to see who was the lucky winner! Ashley is drawing a winner each week for some Treehouse Bucks so be sure to play along. There are a few rules to help you!
1. You must use the challenge as described

5. Your entry must be linked in the inLinks no later than next Wednesday to be eligible for the drawing.

And here's my card! I wanted it simple, but "pretty." The rose is so pretty IRL - a touch of glitter and stunningly simple.

Be sure to check out the other design team's blogs and see what they've created. They are gorgeous creations!

Candy Wrappers THT071

It's Thursday and time for another Treehouse Thursday Challenge (I'm really liking Thursdays!). First off, thanks to all who played along last week! Remember Ashley is doing a random draw for a winner each week! Check out the Treehouse Blog to see if you won! And of course, please join us again this week! I always love getting ideas from you!

This week's THT071 challenge is Candy Wrappers - how perfect for any occasion! I came across this in a Creating Keepsakes magazine, and just HAD to try it out (and my kids' teachers will benefit!). I figured a lot of the Treehouse gals would be doing something for Halloween, so mine is a tad bit different! The pencil is a roll of Rolos, with a Hershey Kiss for a pencil tip. LOVE IT! And I used the newly released Alpha & Number Outline set from Treehouse Stamps for the teacher's monogram! Here are some pictures!

YUMMY!Told ya' it was adorable! With four kids in school, I have to make a bunch!

I hope you play along with this challenge. Of course, there are some rules that you must follow, but your creativity is endless!

Be sure to link your project, and I can't wait to see what ya'll come up with!

Now my "linky thing" is giving me some frustrations, so please go to the Treehouse Blog to see/link to the other design team members and their fabulous creations!

Treehouse Color Challenge Thursday

It's Thursday, and that means Treehouse Challenge Thursday. First off, thanks to all of you who played along with last week's challenge. Loved all your interpretations. Make sure to check out the Treehouse Blog to see if you were last week's winner.

This week's challenge, THT070, is a color challenge (love!) of Purple, Orange, Black. I wanted to do a non-Halloween card so I thought I'd use this image from Treehouse. I've taken my kids to the same pumpkin patch for 7 years now, and they have a sign that reads "Pumpkins for Sale" that I always take their picture by - so I just love this image. I'm sure it will find it's way in my scrapbooks!

Here's my card:

I hope you play along with this challenge. Of course, there are some rules that you must follow, but your creativity is endless!

October Guest Designer Contest

I always thought it would be so neat to be on "one of those design teams" that I stalk and case. I had gotten a Treehouse Stamps set (or two) a long time ago, and while checking out their site, had decided I'd play along with their guest designer contest. Long story short, they chose me as a winner one month, and asked me to join their team shortly after. And it has been a wonderful experience and so much fun. Even when I don't "feel like cardmaking" - I get inspiration from my fellow team members and get working!

Soooo...now it's your turn. If you'd like to try and make our team as a guest designer for November, here's your chance. Ashly gives you a fun image (for FREE!), and you do your magic...post your creation on the blog and you could be chosen as our next guest designer! It's easy and fun and even if you don't win this month, we do this every month!

October's image is a fun one - could be used for an October birthday or Halloween card! Here's the image:

And my card. Now I have to admit the card didn't come together like I had it in my mind, but sitting here looking at it, it is actually pretty fun!

So be sure to stop by the Treehouse Blog and post what you make so you can join this team of fabulous crafters!

And by the way, I think today is a fun release day! I will post more of my sneak peeks later! Love 'em all!

This Week's Treehouse Challenge

It's Thursday again and I didn't get all the cards posted that I wanted. Maybe I'll do a mass post tomorrow! Thanks to all who played along last week! Remember that Ashley is doing a random.org winner each week. Check out the Treehouse Blog!

Anyways, Thursday means Treehouse Thursday Challenge and this week's challenge THT069is to use the Grid Technique (found on Splitcoast). This really is a great technique to add something to your card, even if you don't have all the fancy cardmaking tools! Here's my card using the soon to be released set "Peace On Earth."

Of course there are a few rules to play along:

Be sure to link your project, and I can't wait to see what ya'll come up with! And be sure to check out the rest of the design team - I guarantee you'll find the perfect gift for your teacher!

Sneak Peek Time!!!!

I thought that I had better get some of my cards up...I'm trying to get the "out of the bag" wrinkles out of my kids' Halloween costumes by steaming them in the bathroom...so I'm waiting to see if magic happens and I have a few minutes to post! By the way - everyone knows I do a themed costume with my kids. I made the "mistake" of sending/making cards when my daughter had her first Halloween, and now it's expected. I enjoy it though - and what a perfect photo opportunity with all of my "treats!" Stay tuned for those pics!

Anyways, Treehouse Stamps is having a release on October 1st. And what fun digital images! I've been playing with them a lot these past nights, and thought I'd show you one I made using the upcoming "Chugga Choo Choo" set. I love the sentiments and versatility of this set - Christmas, birthday, new baby, endless! And I also did something new this time - a Z-fold card. It is actually pretty fun, and a simple way to show off a stamp like this. Here are a few views...both closed, and open. And don't you love my new paper?!

Thanks for stopping by and I've got lots of more fun stuff to show - think Christmas!!!

Teacher Challenge

WOW is all I can say. This week was my turn to "host" the Treehouse Thursday Challenge THT068, and being I have five kiddos, four in school, I'm always wanting good home-made gifts for teachers. So my challenge this week was "anything for a teacher." And the Design Team came up with some "WOW" projects (that's what my daughter's teacher last year always wrote - "WOW" work!). Thanks to all who played along last week. Remember that Ashley is doing a random.org drawing for all who participate. I can't wait to see what projects you come up with!

Here's my project...I used the My Favorite Things Apple Basket Template. The apples are filled with chocolate candies for the teacher. I used the "Back to School" set from Treehouse Stamps (a must have in my book!), and made a small card that can be used as a bookmark!

Of course there are a few rules to play along:

Be sure to link your project, and I can't wait to see what ya'll come up with! And be sure to check out the rest of the design team - I guarantee you'll find the perfect gift for your teacher!

Always by my side...

I've been having the kind of weeks that make me realize what awesome friends I have that are always by my side. You know who you are, and I thank you...you've made it bearable!

So it's another Thursday already - if you can believe that! It's been crazy busy with school schedules but I'm glad I sat down to play this week's TREEHOUSE THURSDAY CHALLENGE! This week's challenge is to SPONGE A BACKGROUND...THT067. And remember that Ashley is doing a random.org drawing for one lucky participant. Of course, there are a few rules:

I used the set Little Tweety from Treehouse Stamps...so cute. And I also used Jen Del Muro's SFYTT for this card. I didn't get a real good picture of it so when editing, I added the "60s effect" which actually made the card look pretty neat!

Be sure to check out what the other Treehouse ladies made, including our TWO guest designers this month.

Treehouse September Sneak Peek!

All I have to say is "WOW" to the upcoming release from Treehouse Stamps. I just wish there was more time to play with all the images! Here's a card I made using "Monkey Business" - available at Treehouse Stamps on its release date of September 1st! It has awesome sentiments, and I've needed to remind myself to "hang in there" a lot over the past few weeks so in a way, this card is for me! I also played along with the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #68 for this card, sort of a combination of the two sketches.

Cowboy Up

I've always liked that saying "Cowboy Up" - especially when I feel like I've been bucked off a horse a few times. That's what I've been feeling...and telling myself. These are the last two days of summer for us - with two kiddos starting back to school on Wednesday (a kindergartner and a second grader). The heat here isn't helping either - 17 days in a row of 100+ temps, and more up to 105/106 with heat indexes well above 110. My kids even said at the pool the other day "mom, the water is like wet air." And they are right!

Anyways, to be mean, I'm going to say that Treehouse Stamps has yet another great month of releases coming up! But you'll have to check back later for that. I know - I'm mean!

But in the meantime, here's another card I made using "Cowboy Kid" from Treehouse Stamps' last release. Love all these fun images!

Happy Release Day To Treehouse Stamps

Today is Treehouse Stamps August Release Day. Although I've been at my parents for the month, when I saw the images I couldnt' wait to get home to play with them. For some reason, Halloween is one of my favorite card making/scrapbooking/quilting theme. And this months release has so many cute images to play with for Halloween. I'll be posting more as I get some good light to take pictures and some time to finish the cards.

Anyways, I used the Candy Corn Gal from the August Release, along with a cute sentiment! I added some sparkle to the candy corn...and found some fun buttons to put on the card (warning: extra postage required!). Here's my card

And be sure to check out the Treehouse Store to find all the other great images that Ashley came up with this month. Love 'em all!

It's release day for Treehouse Stamps - and Ashley has some awesome sets this month!

Thursday's Challenge this week is "monochromatic" - so I used the Polka Dot Tea Time and some fun pinks! Living with all these boys I have to take advantage of using pink when I can! I'll also admit that I used a sketch from somewhere but can't find it now. But here's my card for today's celebration and fun!

So be sure to check out the Treehouse Store and get yourself all these awesome new sets!

C'mon and Play - July Contest

I got my start on the Treehouse Design Team by playing along with their monthly contest. Every month, Ashley gives out a free image for you to make a card with. The cards are voted on and a Guest Designer is named for the following month. Along with being a Guest Designer, you get that month's release for free (who doesn't want free stamps)...and a gift certificate to use for even more stamps! So move on over to the Treehouse Blog and see how you can play along!

This month's image is a good one - here it is!

Here's my sample for the July contest image...cupcakes are always so yummy! I didn't want to do anything that was "expected" so I used the Basic Grey Green At Heart paper and went "Orange." I added lots of glitter with the stickles, and dew drops for the sprinkles. I love how it turned out, although I'm pretty sure this one will be taking extra postage at the post office!

and a close-up of the cupcake

Now that you see what I've done, go ahead and try for yourself!

Treehouse Thursday Challenge

Welcome to Treehouse Stamps Thursday Challenge. This week, the challenge was a sketch (one of my favorite types of challenges!). Here's the sketch -

I used a soon-to-be released set (July 7th to be exact) - Art. This has some beautiful "artist" sayings, as well as perfect images for that artist in your life. When I saw the set, I wanted to do something simple but bold. I chose to stay with primary colors, and make it just that, simple but bold! I added crystal effects to the paint so in real life, it looks like wet paint. Once again, I really like the sentiments in this new set (great job Ashley!). Here's my card...

Treehouse Stamps Sneak Peeks Begin...

As I prepare to travel 1000 miles in a car with a husband, five kids and two dogs - for a much needed and much excited for semi-annual trip to Minnesota, I also have some fun stuff to show off. I start my permanent position on the Treehouse Stamps design team tomorrow, and have gotten my first set of digital stamps to play with for the upcoming release on July 7th. And today is the beginning of the sneak peeks from the design team!

My first peek is using Back To School. With all my kids, I'm sure I'll be using this set a ton! I love the images, and the sentiments are wonderful! I used paper from Cosmo Cricket The Boyfriend - perfect, right?! And I wanted more of a rustic school feel. AND, because I didn't want to cover the front paper anymore, I used the sentiment on the inside. Love it!

Be sure to check out the Treehouse Blog for more sneak peeks! And don't forget to stop by the store so you can play along with our Thursday challenges!

Who gave you life

Sometimes it takes my kids to make me slow down and laugh a little. My daughter, who is only 7, was whining about me not letting her do something, and I asked "who gave you life, young lady" and very matter of factly she said "God." Who was I to argue with that?! Agghhh - be careful what you ask for...

Anyways, I've been busy with some new design team work, which I'll get to start showing off this week. I'm also trying to get ready for our semi-annual trip to Minnesota (this one for three weeks!!!!). But I thought I'd stop in and give a quick post with a cute Pure Innocence image from My Favorite Things. I used paper from Papertrey Ink - which I just love!

Here's a couple similar but different pictures...

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to come back later this week for some sneak peeks at what is coming from Treehouse Stamps.
